Exploring cool-roof and passive ventilation techniques to achieve thermal comfort

IMC workshop promotes cool roof concept

Times of India Indore, 21-04-2015: To promote cool roof and passive ventilation concept Indore Municipal Corporation alonwith CREDAI and TARU organized a workshop on Monday. The objective was to promote cool roof concept to save energy and develop technology options for houses. "Cool roof concept will benefit all sections of society, especially poor, who have low capacity to invest on space cooling device. Along with this it will reduce electricity bills of buildings and improve thermal comfort," said municipal commissioner Rakesh Singh. Architect and Hitendra Mehta said while green housing is being promoted, city already has significant proportion of houses , built over last three decades or older, with minimal provisions for passive space cooling. The paradigm of low rise - high density growth that was followed by urban plannners until recently has exclueded possibilty of using centralized space cooling system.
